Belgium Fries Vs French Fries!? What is the difference?

We all love our fries and are always excited to have them! so in this post, I am going to talk about not just any fries, but BELGIUM FRIES!

First question one would always ask is "what is the difference of FRENCH and BELGIUM Fries!?" Well, I had the same question when I first heard of this. it turns out that they are actually the SAME. The only thing that matter is where it came from.

Historically, The fries that we see on the usual came from Belgium. How about FRENCH FRIES then? French fries was claimed to have come from France due to its name. Some even said that their difference is because of the thin cuts. Well, not exactly as accurate. French fries is called so for its cut that is called 'French' cut. Therefore, it is named as French Fries. But the origin of every potato to make our favorite fries are produced and adapted from Belgium and that is why they call it Belgium Fries.

Another story for the 'french' fries is that, the term French was first coined by an American soldier who were at that time arrived Belgium during the 1st World War. Accordingly, they had their first Belgian Fries, but they called it 'French Fries' due to French as the official language for the Belgium soldiers.

Short story, I was recently invited to be a part to witness the Original Belgium Fries launching conference at KL convention Centre. The program act as a part of Food and Hotel Malaysia 2019 event in which was also held at the same location.

A short line that I have got from them is:
"Golden yellow and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, Belgian fries, or fries, as we call them, are a true Belgian delicacy that is delicious either as a side served with steak, or as an appetizing snack with a mayonnaise-based sauce!"

Overall perception from me, is that I have never thought that foods as simple as FRIES can be so much to learn about, from the origin, to ingredients, and how to cook the fries! Another part which I am amazed of is, they even have their own ambassador at the event. The guy in the white shirt is their ambassador.
